Maiyer Craft (M) Sdn Bhd

Maiyer Craft opened in 2009 because a Malaysian flooring contractor had to drive to Singapore to buy a grinder. Since then, we have supplied the machines, tooling and advice that contractors, developers and facility teams rely on across Malaysia and the region.

Bangee Goh started it two years after co-founding the waterproofing and industrial flooring contractor Bravotech Industries, and he came to it with a useful background. Before Bravotech he spent six years in furniture coatings with Inchem Holdings, based in Singapore with manufacturing in Johor, doing business development across China, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Coatings technology transferred directly to industrial flooring. The chemistry was familiar. What changed was the substrate, and concrete is far less forgiving than wood. Preparation, moisture and adhesion decide whether a floor lasts or fails.

In 2007 Bangee Goh co-founded Bravotech Industries, a waterproofing and industrial flooring contractor. The work went well. Finding the machinery to do it did not.

Malaysia had no specialist supplier of professional flooring equipment. When Bravotech needed a grinder, a shot blaster or the right diamond tooling, Bangee drove to Singapore to buy it. Even then the choice was thin.

On one of those drives home the obvious question surfaced. If a flooring contractor in Kuala Lumpur has to cross a border to buy a machine, every other flooring contractor in the country has the same problem.

Maiyer Craft (M) Sdn Bhd opened in 2009 to solve it.

Starting small

Two employees. An 800 square foot office and showroom in Bandar Menjalara, Kepong.

The decision that mattered most was what not to become. Plenty of companies sell construction equipment broadly. Maiyer Craft stayed narrow: flooring machinery, tools and the technology behind them. That focus made it possible to know the work rather than just the catalogue.

Growing with the trade

Contractors responded, and the 800 square feet ran out quickly. In 2011 the company moved into a 5,000 square foot unit with room for a proper showroom. In 2015 it took the factory unit next door. In 2021, another unit opposite the main premises.

Today the team is 18 people.

More than a machine

A machine is only worth what the operator can do with it. So from early on, Maiyer Craft worked with its European manufacturers to run demonstrations, product talks, application training and technical workshops, bringing in contractors, architects and consultants to see the equipment work and learn where it fits.

That built something a product list cannot: contractors call before they buy, and ask what the job actually needs.

The company also built working relationships with the flooring material and construction chemical manufacturers whose systems go onto the floors its machines prepare. Knowing how a grinder, a substrate and a coating behave together is the difference between selling equipment and solving a flooring problem.

What we cover now

Maiyer Craft started in industrial flooring. Customers pulled it wider. The range now covers industrial flooring, polished concrete, timber, resilient and vinyl, natural stone and general construction: grinding, polishing, milling, scarifying, shot blasting, stripping, sanding, dust extraction, mixing, diamond tooling, repair, restoration, testing and measurement.

Around twenty manufacturers from Europe and the United States are represented, most of them under formal dealer appointment.

The customers are flooring contractors, industrial flooring specialists, timber and renovation contractors, main contractors, developers, architects, consultants, material manufacturers and facility teams. Serving all of them means seeing flooring from the point of view of the people who have to deliver it on site.

Beyond Malaysia

Referrals and word of mouth carried the business into Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. Export is now a real part of it. A company set up to supply Malaysian contractors supplies the region.

On site

Equipment is judged on the job, not in a showroom. Maiyer Craft machinery has been used by contractors on projects including the retail fit-out at TRX, 118 Mall, Sunway Medical and Sunway Pyramid, and Gamuda Cove, alongside a long run of commercial, industrial and residential developments.

Where this goes

The trade keeps changing. Remote controlled machines, better diamond technology, cleaner dust extraction, digital moisture measurement. Maiyer Craft intends to keep pace with it, for the same reason the company exists at all: a contractor should be able to get the right machine, and the right advice, without driving to another country.

Every floor begins somewhere. The floor begins with Maiyer Craft.
